Headspace & Banríon Chonnacht reach Junk Kouture National Finals

Elphin Community College is delighted to share the great news of qualification last Wednesday March 7th to the National Finals of Junk Kouture Ireland, which will be held in the 3 Arena, Dublin on April 19th next. It is the second time the school has taken part in this event to reach national qualification, through the regional semi-finals, which is a feat in itself.  Indeed, only 15 costumes were selected to represent the WEST from a total of 82. This achievement cannot be underestimated and is a testament to the top quality designs created by the TY teams consisting of  Emily Keane; Ellen Tiernan;  Jack Murphy ( BANRION CHONNACHT) and Grace Kielty; Rachel Muldowney and Alan Costello (HEADSPACE).

Huge appreciation and thanks must go to the school Principal Ms. Ann Maria Egan together with all staff, parents and students for their patience, goodwill and support over the past number of months. This has been a real team and indeed, whole school effort. Our gratitude also must go to Tony Murphy of Visionary Photographic Studio, Boyle, Co. Roscommon, for his beautiful pictures, which have captured the essence of the outfits and performances. The fifty students who travelled to support at the Helix in Dublin last Wednesday night were outstanding also.  Both models agreed that it ‘made a huge difference’ to give confidence and help with any nerves on the night!

We are immensely proud of our students and look forward to the Final in Dublin with great honour and pride.
